Saturday Video Round Up: March 8 – 14

The following post was submitted by GamerCrash. The original can be found here.

Even though there was a major conference taking place last weekend with PAX East, that didn’t stop the flow of new trailers from gracing the internet. The Round Up is back once again compiling all of the best ones I could find and presenting them to you below. So kick your feet up, crank the volume and enjoy. Here’s a small taste of what’s waiting for you below the jump.

With the game quickly approaching it’s release date, Mortal Kombat X was in the news quite a bit this week. Two new trailers dropped for the highly anticipated fighter as a few new characters were revealed. The first story based trailer deals with the Cage family (yup, he’s baaaaaack) while the second reveals the first character coming to the game in the game’s season pass (Kombat Pack).

Here’s something you probably were not expecting this week: a new game by Game Freak, better known as the developers of Pokemon. No this isn’t another pokemon spin off, instead think of an elephant mixed with Rambo. For Game Freak and Sega, you have their latest game, Tembo the Badass Elephant. Yup, I’m not making this up, just see for yourself below.

I’ve also got new videos for Battlefield Hardline, Splatoon, Tales From The Borderlands and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

The Duck’s Top Three Overlooked Games

One would think that the best games would also be the most well-known, which is often the case, but there are times that I decide to give some obscure game a chance and am baffled at how such an amazing game could have been forgotten so.   I have several such games that are quite dear to me, and I have decided that the only way to give them the recognition they deserve is to share them with all of you. And so I will, in no particular order, as they are all awesome. Continue reading The Duck’s Top Three Overlooked Games

Why I’m Falling Out Of Love With Open World Games

13 years ago a game by the name of GTA 3 launched and changed the gaming world significantly. Although it wasn’t technically the first 3D open-world game to be produced, it can be argued that it was one of the most influential and that it had a huge impact in popularizing the genre. I loved GTA 3 and I know that I spent a huge amount of time roaming around Liberty City taking in the surroundings car-jacking innocent civilians and going on murder sprees. The game supplied me with tools and a sandbox to play in and like a young child, I created my own fun. Continue reading Why I’m Falling Out Of Love With Open World Games

Gaming Humiliation: The Massage Mini Game in “FFX-2”

My next post on humiliating and/or embarrassing things in video games was a no-brainer. If you’ve ever had the misfortune of playing “Final Fantasy X-2”, you’ll notice right away that it’s, to put it lightly, silly.  I’m not going to say too much against it, as I know it does have its fans, but I’m not one of them.  But, anything I had a problem with in the game pales in comparison to something I don’t think anyone in the world liked.

This game has…a massage mini game.  That can’t possibly be good, can it?  At one point in the game, Yuna, disguised as one of Leblanc’s lackeys, has to, for whatever reason, give Leblanc a massage.  And it’s just…very wrong.  It’s just…I’m not getting into the details.  Suffice it to say, I was trying to get through this as fast as possible because I really didn’t want anyone catching what I was doing.  And I’m not including a video of it, either, for fear of…you actually watching it.  But, if you want to check it out, I’m sure it can be found on Youtube, recorded by someone who knew not what they were subjecting the world to. Gaming Humiliation: Constructor X in “Bomberman Generation”

Look at me, the master of creating bizarre series, has done it again.  I have started another series, with this one’s purpose being to share with you all sections of games that range from really quite bad to very rather embarrassing.  And back again.  And a fitting beginning is one boss I have found particularly objectionable since the first moment I laid eyes on him, Constructor X.

You might be asking right about now, what in the world is Constructor X, Duck?  To which I respond, you are very lucky you don’t know.  This boss makes his appearance in “Bomberman Generation” on the GameCube.  It’s a fun game, but it’s also pretty darn silly, but it wouldn’t be half as bad if this guy didn’t have to show up.  You see, before the battle starts, these two talking construction vehicles… Continue reading Gaming Humiliation: Constructor X in “Bomberman Generation”

The Best (and Worst) of The Wolf Among Us

Image by Flickr User: BagoGames  (CC)

The first season of The Wolf Among Us felt absolutely brilliant! The story was engaging, the characters were interesting, and the gameplay kept me on my toes. I could not wait to talk about this game again once I had finished the final episode of the first season “Cry Wolf”. However, wait I did since most games tend to leave us players with lingering feelings (good and ill) that skew perception away from what it should be. Now that the rose-colored fervor has worn-off though, I feel that my head is clear enough to give this game a fair look and pick out its best and worst aspects. Each portion of this game has them, the much touted story included. Continue reading The Best (and Worst) of The Wolf Among Us

A Plea for FF8 Assistance

With Cary and Jacob already on their quests to complete “Metroid Prime” and “Final Fantasy VII”, respectively, it got me thinking of a quest of my own that I would like to accomplish one day. My own game to complete is “Final Fantasy VIII”. I have reached the final boss, but I just can’t beat it. I have tried time and time again, but I just can’t seem to prevail. And I need help, or else I may never overcome my obvious incompetence, and that’s why I write this plea to all you fellow gamers out there, with one big question….

What the crap? Continue reading A Plea for FF8 Assistance
