Saturday Video Round Up: August 9 – 15

The following post was submitted by Gamer Crash. See more trailers and news at GamerCrash.com!

With GamesCom now at an end and the giant trailer explosion a thing of last week, the industry has settled a bit. Unfortunately for us here at the Round Up, that means significantly less videos to give to you, dear reader. Still, lets make the best of it shall we? Here are the best videos from the past week, which are conveniently tucked away after the break below. For now, here’s just a brief taste.

The big trailer for me this week comes from Nintendo. With Super Mario Maker on the horizon, Nintendo has dropped a mega-sized 7 minute trailer showing off more of the game and all the new features that you didn’t already know about before hand. Seriously, there’s a lot of stuff this one is bringing to the table and I cannot wait.

The surprise hit of 2015 currently rests in the hands of Dying Light and developer Techland is bringing a whole new chapter to fans with The Following. Featuring a new and expansive area for player to kill zombies in, the biggest surprise may be the inclusion of a dune buggy than can also be upgraded. Come get a first look below.

I’ve also got new videos for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Rainbow Six Siege, Mega Man Legacy Collection and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

The Two Made One? Windows 10 and the Xbox One.

Although I enjoy watching press conferences from various multimedia and gaming events such as E3 and GDC, I usually take any announcements made at them with more than a few grains of salt. Though I understand the need to keep people interested and playing, many of us can probably recall at least a few instances where the initial hype surrounding a hallowed gaming proclamation fizzled into nothing or became little more than a long-running tease. So when I decided to invest my time into watching the Gamescom 2015 press conferences of Microsoft, EA, and Blizzard, I was ready to be interested but, like any cautious optimist, also skeptical and underwhelmed. Though those facets held out for most of what I heard, I perked up  at Microsoft’s announcement that Windows 10 would be coming to the Xbox One this fall. Hmm…

UWG Goes to Youtube!

Hello, everyone!  You’ve read our posts and listened to our commentary on gaming history and news; we’ve laughed and cried together (well, hopefully not the latter).  And yet, we recently realized that there was one major area we had yet to explore.  Until now.  That’s right, dear readers, United We Game has finally expanded to videos!  In the distant past, we started our very own Youtube channel, and though it’s still small, it will surely grow, and as it does, we hope to include a variety of gaming-related content, from gameplay videos to discussions on whatever gaming topic catches our fancy. Console Gaming May Not be the Best Option Anymore

ME3 Shadow Broker

I’ve been player of home consoles for my entire life as a gamer. It used to be that I would steadfastly tout the superiority of my favorite consoles over the PC, even in the face of growing evidence to the contrary. I’m even still considering potentially picking up an Xbox One in order to play the likes of Halo 5 and Tomb Raider. I had an incredible time with the consoles of the past, and am very happy with PS4 now. It’s been an absolute blast. However, more and more often now I find my gaze wandering to the land of PC gaming. With everything PCs have to offer these days, I can’t help but wonder if remaining a primarily console-based gamer is the best way to continue. Saturday Video Round Up: Super Gamescom 2015 Edition

The following post was submitted by Gamer Crash. See more trailers and news at GamerCrash.com!

This week was all about Gamescom and as the dedicated Saturday Video Round Up fan that you are, I’m sure you know what that means. More Videos! It’s because of that fact that I really don’t know where to start. If there’s a game you’re excited for later this year or even into next, I more than likely have a trailer for it. This week is jam packed with video content, so lets dive in! Here’s a small taste.

After a slight hiatus and disappearance at E3 this year, Quantum Break came back in a big way, revealing the star studded talent in the game and also a nice graphical upgrade. If you want to see how this time bending action game is shaping up, there’s a brand new trailer for your viewing pleasure below.

Even though I couldn’t get into the first game, I still find the Mirror’s Edge series beautiful. With the next entry in the series, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, set to hit stores next year, the same remains true. Catalyst looks gorgeous and very fluid as the main character Faith weaves in and out using parkour moves to escape some pretty dangerous situations. The GamesCom demo awaits you below the jump.

I’ve also got new videos for Street Fighter V, Heroes of the Storm, Halo 5: Guardians and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

B.Y.O.C. (Bring Your Own Controller)

The following article was originally posted on Geek Force Network on November 7, 2014.

While out with friends the other night, a discussion about sharing arose. At first the topic centered around food and couples and the issue of “stealing” food from each others’ plates. The majority of folks (including my husband and I) couldn’t abide by the notion, saying that when each ordered a plate of food it was automatically implied that the individual meals would be consumed only by the person ordering.  Food from one plate would only be shared at the expressed verbal request by the other party AND the food owner’s agreement to do so.

And then I proceeded to steal a french fry from my husband’s plate. Partially in jest. Partially because I wanted a french fry.

As the conversation progressed, the subject of sharing broadened to possessions, especially collections of collectible toys, comic books and video games. What were the boundaries to sharing (and by extension, borrowing and trading) then? With friends? With children (your own and others)? Each of us at the table admitted to having at least one thing/collection that we would not, under any circumstances, share with other people. My thing was video game controllers.

Day 9: Saddest Game Scene

I haven’t done this in a while, but you can bet that when I start to resort to the 100 theme challenge and the 30 day gaming topic…um, thingy for blog post topics, I’m running out of ideas.  You’re welcome for the honesty.  Ahem, today’s 30 day video game topic is #9, the saddest game scene.  There are several scenes that have made me rather…misty in the past, but I think there are two main ones that need mentioning.  Yes, I’m kind of cheating, but who’s going to put a stop to my reign of rule-breaking terror?  No one.  So there.
