Watch_Dogs Bad Blood DLC Review – A Second Chance

Watch-Dogs-TBone

The following post was submitted by GamerCrash. The original can be found here.

It’s been a solid five months since Ubisoft released the open world game, Watch_Dogs, upon the masses and in an effort to update the series a little, its story based DLC, Bad Blood, looks to mix up some things in the main game. While still set in Chicago, Bad Blood seeks to refresh player expectations with new areas and enemies to battle against while still using your phone to manipulate the surrounding area. Introducing a new protagonist, a new story-line, and new activities to do, does Bad Blood hack its way into your heart, or should it be left by the roadside?

Editor’s Note: I’ve done my absolute best to avoid spoilers but certain things I discuss below may delve into spoilerish territory if you’ve yet to play the game fully. Reader beware.

Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings Review – Tomb Raiding

ACU-DeadKings

The following post was submitted by GamerCrash. The original can be found here.

Dead Kings wasn’t on my list of things to do. After enjoying my time with Unity (even with its issues), I was ready to move on from the game. The story wrapped up, I felt content on where the journey ended, and I put enough time into the side content that I personally felt complete. Things obviously changed when Ubisoft made the decision to serve the added content up for free as a way of saying sorry for the very rough state in which Assassin’s Creed Unity launched. Honestly now, who am I to reject free stuff for a game that I had a good time with?

Also if you’re worried, I’ll try to steer clear of spoilers considering this content takes place after the events of Unity. Your welcome.

After putting time into the DLC, here are my thoughts on the experience. The full post waits for you below the jump.

A Look At Shadow of Mordor’s Unique Nemesis System

Images and video captured by GamerCrash

Shadow of Mordor always has a lot of ambition in what it was trying to do. A brand new story line that doesn’t tie into the Lord of the Rings movies in anyway, you play Talion,  a former Gondor Ranger, who is seeking revenge on an entity known as The Black Hand of Sauron who led an attack on the Black Gate killing his family and also (in an interesting twist) Talion himself. Paired up with a mysterious Wraith, the two of you set out to undermine the forces of Mordor until The Black Hand can be located. What makes Shadow of Mordor standout is a a couple new features to help make the open world feel alive. Continue reading A Look At Shadow of Mordor’s Unique Nemesis System

Slender is an Experience

I have been writing a lot of posts related to “Slender: The Nine Pages” as of late.  Even more so (and which is required in order to properly write about it), I have been playing the game, not to mention recording gameplay videos of it, something I have been enjoying immensely, even as it repeatedly sends my socks flying across the room in dread.  I have two new gameplay videos to share with you all below, but first, the true purpose of my post (okay, okay, a large part really is to just show off my videos, but still).

For me, “Slender: The Nine Pages”, and surely many of the other “Slender” games, is an experience rather than just a game, something I learned as I tried to record yet another gameplay video.  The game doesn’t frighten me as much as it used to, so I now play at night with the lights off, but it’s quite difficult coaxing myself to do this because, well, this game is still pretty darn scary, whether or not I’ve gotten somewhat used to it.  Playing this game, in many ways, is quite an ordeal, but I force myself to play because I want so badly to get those stupid pages, and I really enjoy recording videos of it.  But, you know what happened…  Well, I got the key to the locked door for the first time ever, and I even got seven pages on my last attempt for that video.  That’s right, seven.  One-two-three…seven.  And you would think that would be a good thing, but I then found, to my utter dismay, that… Continue reading Slender is an Experience

The Duck Meets the Slender Man…It Was Not a Pleasure

I did it. I finally played “Slender: The Nine Pages”. I sure hope the site where I downloaded it was safe, but all seems well. I downloaded version 1.3, and I had some trouble at first figuring out how to get it to work, as the computer kept complaining at me that I couldn’t open the game without the data folder being nearby. I don’t even know what that was supposed to mean, but once some hardcore unzipping occurred, once I realized that was what it wanted me to do, the game worked just fine. But, before I played, I wanted to do something very stupid. I wanted to wait until it was dark out, turn off all the lights, and light a few paper lanterns. I know, cute, little paper lanterns have very little to do with eluding the Slender Man, but they were all I had for some semi-spooky ambient lighting. The Duck Watches People Get Terrorized by Slender Man

Just the other day (as of writing this, at least), I was watching this gameplay video of a game I remember hearing about a few months ago or so called “Slender: The Nine Pages”. It is a PC game, and I was warned right from the start that it might be rather scary. That only intrigued me more, as I do rather like frightening things, and so I didn’t heed his warning at all and just kept watching, to varying degrees of regret. If you want to see the video for yourself, it is below: Continue reading The Duck Watches People Get Terrorized by Slender Man

My Take on the DICE and Bad Company 3 Controversy

“We take all this into account when we think about the future, and do franchise strategy,” Troedsson said. “But there’s one thing that lingers with Bad Company that we’ve been asking ourselves: what is it that the people really liked about Bad Company?”

Crazy right? Can you ever recall a developer outright saying they don’t know what people like about their game? It’s even more bizarre when you consider that this quote is aimed at a beloved franchise that was critically and commercially successful. The above quote in question comes from Karl-Magnus Troedsson, the head of Digital Illusions CE, better known as DICE in a recent interview with Eurogamer. The conversation sparked up over the fact that we’re getting Battlefield Hardline this year when it seems many people were expecting some sort of Battlefield Bad Company 3 announcement instead.

Well, I agree with him. Continue reading My Take on the DICE and Bad Company 3 Controversy
