Players, Characters, and Nier

As players, we want our games to acknowledge us. More specifically, we want to see our actions make some sort of impact upon the worlds displayed on our screens. Well, only up to a certain point that is. We neither want nor expect our games to acknowledge everything we do, especially when it comes to triggering their endings.  Instead, we want them to ignore us as we dally about finding extra loot and completing side-missions, leaving the ending to be triggered at our leisure. Most games do this, and we love them for it. However, it does make one wonder what would happen if a game didn’t do that. Well, it seems we can now find out.

Saturday Video Round Up: March 5 – 11

Even though I’m in Boston for the annual Penny Arcade Expo aka PAX East this weekend, I’m not going to leave you guys hanging without something to do. I mean, it is Saturday after all. So as usual, here are the best and brightest videos from the past week.

The headliner this week, for me anyway, is the 16 minute gameplay walkthrough for Middle-earth: Shadow of War. I was an big fan of the first game and it looks like the team has cranked up the epicness to 100 this time around. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the game at E3 this year.

It’s crazy to think, but we’re now a little over a week away from the next Mass Effect game, and I couldn’t be more excited. If you need another bump to the hype meter, the launch trailer has finally arrived and it features all the space shootin’ goodness that you’d expect to see.

I’ve also got new videos for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Injustice 2, Quake Champions and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

Saturday Video Round Up: February 26 – March 4

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the weekend and an all new edition of the Saturday Video Round Up. As usual, I’ve gather up the best video game trailers and gameplay from around the industry this past week and put them all in a handy dandy post for your viewing pleasure. Let’s get to it, shall we?

After a leak last week, WB and Monolith officially confirmed that Middle-earth: Shadow of War is indeed real. Picking up where the first game left off, players jump back into the armor of fallen ranger Talion and his spirit elf Celebrimbor as they create a new ring of power and prepare to go toe to toe with Sauron. With a newly updated and expanded Nemesis System, I am ready to return to the land of Mordor.

With the Nintendo Switch now out in the wild, there’s also a handful of launch videos for the new console watching for your views as well.

I’ve also got new videos for Nier: Automata, Injustice 2, Mass Effect Andromeda and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

Saturday Video Round Up: Feb 19 – 25

Hey, look! Saturday is here and that means the Round Up is here to (hopefully) entertain and delight you. For those new here, the Video Round Up collects the best trailers and gameplay videos from the past week and puts them all here for your viewing pleasure. There’s a lot to get to this week, so here’s just a small sampling of what is waiting for you after the jump.

It was a big week for BioWare as a number of Mass Effect Andromeda videos came out and for myself, increasing the hype meter considerably. The first video shows off more single player gameplay, along with how the upgrade and skill tree process works this time around. A second video introduces us the Lexi T’Perro, the chief medic and the first person players will meet. Lastly, a third video which dropped on Friday has security chief, Liam Costa, discussing weapon training.

Sony’s first major AAA title for 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn finally launches next week and a handful of new trailers also arrived showing off more of the gorgeous open world, combat, and exploration players will be taking part in.

I’ve also got new videos for Nier: Automata, Injustice 2, Nintendo Switch and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

Saturday Video Round Up: February 12 – 18

Saturday is back once again and along with it comes a brand new edition of the Video Round Up. It’s back to bring you the best trailers and videos from the past week, so without further delay, let’s get into it, shall we?

It was a big week for Injustice 2 as the upcoming DC Comics fighting game introduced a bunch of fighters to its expansive roster of heroes and villains. Swamp Thing made his debut, followed by another trailer showing off four femme fatales with Black Canary, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Cheetah.

After much success with their Wii U season pass experiment for first party games like Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, and Hyrule Warriors, Nintendo has revealed that they’re doing another season pass for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While many of you may be worrying that Zelda has always been a complete experience on day one, it appears that Nintendo is not planning on cutting out content and reselling it. Based on the limited information, the post-launch content appears to be additional, and optional content.

I’ve also got new videos for Nier: Automata, Sea of Theaves, Horizon Zero Dawn and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

It Seems Nier: Automata has Some Mysteries to Solve

Nier: Automata is already out next month here in the US. That may be amazingly fast considering just how recently it broke into the wider gaming consciousness, but it’s definitely not unwelcome. In fact, it would be quite nice if more games started up their hype trains a few months before release rather than the now standard 2-3 years. Anyway, the game is coming out soon and thus we have a brand new trailer to to keep it stuck in our brains for awhile longer. You can see it here after the jump.
