Overcoming First Impressions

How much time does it take for your initial impression of a game to form? A few minutes? A few hours? How much time does it take to overturn that first impression, if indeed it can be overturned at all? First impressions are very powerful things. No matter the subject be it a game, a movie, a book, or even a person, your first impression of them is going to heavily influence your interactions. Usually we have plenty of opportunity to reinforce or overturn it, but what happens when your first impression becomes your only impression? Wandering the Endless Expanse

I finally did it. After all kinds of recommendations from friends and seeing that it was getting all manner of praise, I finally picked up and started playing Final Fantasy XV. I hadn’t really been paying a lot of attention to the media surrounding it, so I really didn’t know much about what type of game it was. So, imagine my surprise when I was almost immediately dropped into a vast open world to explore from the word “go”. There was a time when this would have been a pleasant surprise indeed, but not anymore. Instead, this discovery left me feeling resigned, with just a single thought in reaction: “Oh, its another one of these games.” I suppose I’ll just come out and say it: I’m getting tired of all these open-world games. Listmas 2016: Games to Potentially Pad my PS4 Library

Now that the PS4 has finally joined my gaming family, I have begun the all-important task of acquiring a collection of games to accompany it.  What good is a shiny new console without games, after all?  Thus far, the PS4 section of my gaming shelf consists only of the Ratchet & Clank remake and Uncharted 4, which is a sad sight indeed.  Fortunately, with Christmas coming up, I might just be able to do something about it.  And so, without further ado, a delightful list containing the potential games I might add to my PS4’s library (even if some of them are nowhere near being released). Saturday Video Round Up: March 27 – April 2

The following post was submitted by Derek from Gamer Crash. See more trailers and news at GamerCrash.com!

The Round Up has returned and is ready to deliver the best video based trailers and content from the past week. Make sure to kick those feet up, crank the volume, and enjoy the offering this week. Looking for April Fools content? I’ve included one below but be on the look out for a new Round Up coming next week. No, this isn’t an April Fools joke, it’s April 2nd. Here’s a quick look at only a small portion of what awaits you below.

With just over a month left before release, EA is slowly (and I mean SLOWLY) pulling the curtains back on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. This week, they released a new developer diary showcasing the City of Glass and the narrative elements intertwined within it. Either way it’s a win because it gives you an updated look at the game.

For you Final Fantasy fans, it was a great week as Square Enix dropped a ton of new information and a barrage of new trailers. I’ve done the best I could to gather them all up and sprinkle them throughout this round up for your enjoyment.

I’ve also got new videos for DOOM, Battleborn, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and so much more after the break, so come check out this week’s batch of trailers!

The full list of videos await you after the jump…

#Listmas2015: Most Anticipated Unscheduled Game Releases of 2016

It happens every year round this time. I look at the games scheduled to be released up to June of the next year. I pick a crop that I’d like to play and stick those dates in my calendar. Slowly but surely my anticipation heightens as those dates near. Once one comes along, the choice becomes buy or wait. And more often than not these days, the choice turns out to be wait. So I’m doing things a little differently this time.

This year, rather than set my heart on a few games of interest that have fairly solid release dates, I’m eyeing number of games that have been promised in 2016 but may not actually make it out to the public. (We all know how far promises go sometimes ahem Kingdom Hearts 3 ahem.) No commitment, no pain is my thinking right now, because if any of these games make it to the shelves (physical or virtual) that’ll be awesome. And if they don’t, no harm done, no hurt feelings. So here’s a Listmas list of my most anticipated unscheduled game releases of 2016.
