Going online through blogging and such has changed all that quite a bit, and for the better. Though I still struggle with making those interactions meaningful and with what it means these days to be a “social” gamer. But it is a wonderful thing to be able to build and become part of online communities through games. It reinforces the notion that video games are more than the sum of their pixels.

I’m pretty much a lone gamer and play by myself more often than not, which makes gaming feel like it should be a lonesome hobby sometimes, but it doesn’t because it allows me to connect with others through a shared experience. I might go and play a game by myself, but then I’m able to talk about that game with other people who have played it, as well. I even feel a strange sense of community now that I’ve played FNAF like so many other people out there. It makes me feel closer to all those other fans. Anyway, another interesting post.
