I want something to do, so I attack anything I see. I have more fun assaulting Waddle Dees for no good reason than jumping over them.

It’s kind of a necessity for most games, after all it would be kind of confusing if there were a bunch of good characters on the screen that you weren’t supposed to attack, but could.

Still, it with games as they are it can be hard to play without that assumption.

There is no need to take out every Waddle Dee in my path in the Kirby series. I could simply avoid them. But, video games, apparently, have taught me that anything that dies when attacked must be evil. If it’s not evil, then beating the living daylights out of it should have no effect. Right?

I felt bad attacking poor Big Mama. She was just painting her nails.

Even in games where you’re not ‘forced’ to do it, you start thinking that you kind of have to. For example, when I was playing Skyrim I started out trying to be a character that would only attack if attacked first, but once everything in the game tried to kill me on sight, I eventually adopted a similar attitude. After all, it was either take out the thing right away or wait for it to get the jump on me, take half of my health, THEN take it out.

Not a fan of that kind of stuff.
