But I always come back to the notion that I don’t have any thing at stake with fighting games. It’s not like I’m a tourney gamer or that I have a history full of fighting game victories. It’s a genre with which I only want to have full, even if I mostly suck. Letting go of the “I must do’s” (i.e. I must learn {x} move or I can’t play) when it comes to fighting games helps a lot.

Any tips? I got Injustice as one o the free PS Plus games a few months ago and I’ve watched some Mortal Kombat X (looks amazing) but when I can’t get any combos, I just don’t see the point :-\

[Unrelated prologue: Before you take a gander at what’s going on below, maybe you’d like to do a little voting? Right above this is a polling post that will decide my next gaming project involving a 1990s JRPG for the SNES. If you’ve voted already, thanks! (And why not vote again? :) If you haven’t, then just click on the post above and scroll down to the poll.]

Of all the games that this angry gamer has taken on, none push aside the gripes, groans, and grrrrrrrs as much as fighting games. They are, quite simply, blissful pursuits. This I recently explored over on United We Game.

Of that trio (with Mileena and jade) she’ll always be my favorite as well.

I think you hit the nail on the head about fighting games and letting off stress — that’s exactly I find them so delightful. You don’t have to be a master at them to enjoy them generally. Sometimes, you really just do need to kick some virtual butt, and that’s okay. :)

Mortal Kombat will be my number one fondest fighting game in memory, especially during my younger days when I wasn’t really much of a gamer. Kitana will always be the character who has left the most lasting impression on my young mind!
