Yeah, and it can be hard not to be a backseat gamer when the other person is new to video games… I don’t want to ruin things for her by telling her what to do all the time, though. Sometimes you just have to enjoy figuring things out for yourself! I have gotten my sister into visual novels/dating sims. It’s different but… I feel like that’s a good start.

I don’t have any siblings, so I don’t know if I would have had a great time playing with them, or would have just stressed over whether or not they were careful with things. The latter seems more likely.

I bet you can make your sister into a gamer. She can’t resist forever!

Awesome post. My sister doesn’t play video games, but I can totally relate to that special connection and imagination that siblings can share. Had we grown up playing video games, I’m sure we’d be great co-op partners now! I’m still trying to get her into games… we shall see… =)

I didn’t have siblings to play with, but I did play with my parents sometimes in the past. It was a shame they didn’t do it a lot, but it could be fun when we did.

I had some good memories of playing with my mom before school in the morning. We’d play the old “Donkey Kong Country” on the SNES. It used to be a lot of fun.

This was a great post; Thanks for bringing back some fond memories!

I too used to enjoy co-op with my brother. We conquered the original Donkey Kong games together, dared each other to get everything there was to get in the 1st and 2nd Kingdom Hearts games, and achieved victory over some of the toughest challenges in Halo 3. We don’t play together anymore, but we still have an unofficial competition of sorts to put together the “best” library of games.

Indeed, were it not for my brother I may never have become the gamer I am today.

I used to love playing co-op with my brother. As we’ve gotten older it has been harder to make time for it and I miss it. I sometimes get to play some co-op with my younger cousin which is cool. Great post!

That’s great that you get along with your family. I have done some co-op gaming with my mom (including working together in “Animal Crossing: City Folk” to buy each other furniture and help pay for expensive stuff, like the lighthouse), and I’ve done some competitive stuff with both parents. Since we get along, it makes multiplayer more fun than playing with people that might not play fair or lose or win gracefully.
