We never quite came to blows, but the yelling was bad enough. Cookie and Cream will forever remain as probably the darkest mark on my gaming soul.

I had forgotten about cookie and cream. To call that game egregious would be an understatement. I do believe that’s the game where I saw one friend bash the other over the head with a controller.

Early this month on United We Game, we tackled the topic of co-op play. It was great to read all the different perspectives on cooperative play with others, whether locally or online. My own post on the subject took a typically negative turn that I rounded out in a positive way. I certainly don’t hate co-op play, but it’s not something that I regularly seek out. What do you think? Comments on this and any of our posts are always welcome!

He’s much more patient than I with games — I tend to just get stressed out when things don’t go my way. And that makes me very nervous at the idea of playing co-op, especially with complete strangers. Maybe someday I’ll get over that fear — I know most gamers want to see other gamers succeed and are willing to help them when they stumble.

My husband and I were a little worried that our Cookie & Cream experience might have meant something bad in the end. But we’ve never defined ourselves as a “gaming couple.” If the only thing we had connected over was games, then yes, we would have been in trouble!

It sounds like you have a great group of people to play. A little trash talking between friends never hurts to help compel one to do better! But it’s good that they are patient too. :)

Me and my friend have had good experiences playing saints row 3, borderlands, animal crossing and more. We just chat and help each other out.

Me and my partner have different play styles and will compete more aggressively for drops, kills and to get the high score. This leads to more stressful play situations.

I would definitely recommend playing other co-op games if you can – I know the lego games can be fun.

That experience with your husband is really…uh…yikes. I’m glad I haven’t had such a bad experience with co-op games when I made the transition into full on gamer.

Recently I was playing the game Monaco with my best friend and his girlfriend for the first time, as they both have played it before and I haven’t. I was terrible at the controls and figuring out what to do in this heist game. I died plenty of times and my friend sort of yelled at me, but in a joking way of “Woman, what are you doing?!” Overall, I’m lucky to play with people who are patient and don’t lose tempers too easily to make the whole co-op experience a complete bust. Even if I am I fumbling idiot in the game, they do their best to help me and wait for me to get used to the game in time.
