I love your idea about gaming and blogging as a “bucket list” kind of thing. I started my own blog of game memories because I don’t have much time to play anymore. Of course, I could be gaming instead of blogging, but it’s a little easier for me to find a few minutes to write than a few hours to play now-a-days!

And I keep hearing good things about the game even today. Same with those older Zelda games…sigh. I don’t really agree with cloning, but if someday I could clone myself, I’d make my clone only play video games I never had time to play (because my clone would also be a robot I could command). And then I’d link up with all those memories…it’d be like I had played all those games!

And that was weird. Sorry.

I almost made this a longer list to accommodate DKC and DKC2, which are brilliant games, but I set forth rules, darn it! Darn rules.

I have to say i really smiled when i read this comment and reach the part about RPGs. I’m a big fan of the genre and have played most of the classics and some of the new stuff. i own more than i actually play but my plan is to complete and blog about all of them before i kick the bucket :D

The Wii is a great console because of it’s backwards compatibility to a lot of nintendo’s earlier platforms. I just wish they would make more of that classics available via VC. OH and seeing as you don’t have an SNES next time i play mine i’ll write a personalized article about it and make sure to mention you.

My list would be “Donkey Kong Country” (lots of fun), “Donkey Kong Country 2″ (oh, my gosh, so fun, and it has Dixie and pirate crocs!), “Zelda: A Link to the Past” (so darn fun and long, too), “Super Mario World” (fun and the only old “Mario” game I can get through), and “Illusion of Gaia” (fun, great story, and it’s great if I need a game that makes me bawl).

At the risk of sounding old, they don’t make ‘em like they used to! Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good modern RPG with lots of flare and pretty stuff to look at and shoot; but honestly, I’d rather spend the rest of my life with old-school Samus over just about any new-school character. Maybe with the exception of John Marston. But not his son Jack…oh no.

I’ve been working on building up my SNES library through the Wii — it’s pretty cool to have access to all those old games. It’s a slow process though. But I’d much rather have an actual SNES console! It’s very cool you still have yours.

Sadly, I’ve never played the other two games to mention…and that’s a terrible thing that I hope to rectify someday.

Four of which i have personally played (super metroid, super mario world, super castlevania IV, Street Fighter II Turbo) and the fifth i’m not too sure i have given it a try. I still own my super nintendo but i don’t have much games for it now, some lost to the times from trades, friends not returning and just plain losing them. the few i do have are Final Fantasy 2, 3, clay fighter and tmnt 4: turtles in time. I don’t actually use the system though put it on every so often to make sure it still works. So when i want my SNES fix i have to turn to my wii and virtual console. I hope you find more to relax on your “deserted island” because the classics are the best.
