Same feelings. And I suspect they were enhanced by the fact that it was four in the morning and I had done nothing but play all evening.

I don’t think my reaction was as intense as yours, but I kind of wish it was.

It is true that they are indeed very immersive. Simply having fun is fun, but it’s the games that make you feel intense emotions that make you feel like you’re a part of it, particularly scary ones. It’s a shame most scary games seem to be of high ratings, as I’d really like to play more, but I don’t often like playing M-rated games.

My scariest experiences that I currently remember are two things. When I first played “Halo” (one of my only M-rated games), that area where the Flood first appear. Oh, my. So much suspense leading up to that moment. What happened to everyone? What made that one guy go crazy? What is that dripping from the ceiling?! And then these monsters are coming at me. I was terrified and ran into a hallway and just hid there. I wouldn’t, no, I couldn’t come out for the longest time. The ReDeads in “The Legend of Zelda” horrify me, too. I’ve had so many nightmares from them. I know they’re fake, but I can’t bring myself to approach them. I run up, toss a bomb at them or some such thing, and flee. Occassionally attaking them makes them walk around the room, and I crush myself up against the wall farthest from them and hope they don’t see me and let out that awful scream. Then, I repeat the process until they are gone. I still can’t get over my fear of them.
